Prestige served as the General Contractor for the construction of a new concrete stair entrance on the east side of Virginia's historic Capitol Square. This project required extensive coordination to demolish the existing stairway, excavate for the new stair, while maintaining the structural integrity of the aging underground tunnel system on Capitol Square. The timeframe of the project required construction to occur during the General Assembly session, greatly increasing traffic around the site, which is situated between the Thomas Jefferson Building and the Oliver Hill Building on Governor Street. Following the excavation, the project required an intricate poured-in-place concrete installation of a grand staircase to match the existing materials on both the Jefferson and Hill buildings. The project included the fabrication and installation of custom railing and fencing to match the historic fence on Capitol Square.
